GentleLase

GentleLase Pro procedures use flash lamp technology to excite an alexandrite crystal to create and lase a 755nm wavelength laser through a fiber optic which is delivered to the patients skin along with a pre and post (laser pulse) burst of cryogen cooling that cools the epidermal layer of skin to a comfortable level thus allowing for the fastest and most efficacious treatments available today.  The 755nm Alexandrite Laser targets the melanin in the hair shaft effectively destroying the hair follicle at the root preventing future hair growth.

Is GentleLase For Everyone?

As good as the GentleLase Pro is there must be melanin in the hair for the laser to effectively treat. A good candidate is someone with light to medium skin tone with dark hair. Darker skin patients should consider using a 1064nm/Yag laser or 810nm/diode (Motif LHR) (to remove hair) treatments as too much melanin can be absorbed by the GentleLase Pro laser potentially causing and adverse reaction to treatment.

Will My Hair Grow Back After Several Treatments?

Although the hair follicle has been destroyed by the laser there are still stem cells which can regenerate the hair follicle thus allowing hair growth to occur (typically 2-5 years down the road)  however this re-growth is typically limited and is spot treated for desired results.

GentleLase Procedure

Because of the unique Dynamic Cooling Device “DCD” Cryogen cooling the provider will have the patient where protective eye goggles or eye shields if treating above the collar bone and pulse the laser on the patients skin destroying the underlying hair follicles.  Patients will feel a cool burst followed by a warm sensation. Treatments can take anywhere from a few minutes to about an hour, depending on the amount of hair and the size of the area being treated. The average treatment time is about 22 minutes. Your treatment time may vary.
