Getting Rid of All Unwanted Hair
GentleLase Pro is time proven, state-of-the-art, highly effective, relatively quick treatment that helps remove unwanted hair. Many patients are opting to undergo laser hair removal treatments instead of plucking, waxing, and shaving. All of these traditional ways are time-consuming and need to be re-done every week or two. Often unwanted reactions to the skin, especially around the bikini area, can occur with shaving resulting in embarrassing rashes. Dr. Hardesty and his team at Imagine Plastic Surgery have been providing their patients with clinically proven and innovative techniques to remove unwanted hair long-term for decades.
GentleLase Pro is a procedure that addresses all of your hair removal needs. GentleLase Pro procedures use flash lamp technology to excite an alexandrite crystal to create a wavelength. This wavelength is delivered to the patient’s skin, along with a burst of cryogen cooling that cools the epidermal layer of skin to a comfortable level. This allows for fast and effective treatment. The 755nm Alexandrite Laser targets the melanin (dark pigment) in the hair effectively destroying the hair follicle at the root, preventing future hair growth. Since hair grows in cycles it is recommended that a series of 3-4 sessions approximately 4-6 week apart because hair grows in three stages. Thus, hair needs to be in the “growth” stage in order for the hairs on your body to be ablated and carried out for optimal permanent hair removal. Dr. Hardesty provides this tried and proven permanent hair removal service because it delivers amazing results for his patients.
This treatment is a safe, effective, and quick procedure that provides patients with amazing results. The laser is created by Syneron Candela, the world leader in cosmetic products. Dr. Hardesty trusts these products to give his patients the results they want. At Imagine Plastic Surgery, Dr. Hardesty understands his patients and their needs, he works closely with his staff to create the best treatment for all of his patients. He will consult with you to know if this will be beneficial for you.
The GentleLase Pro treatment can treat many different areas and concerns on the body. It is a very versatile treatment that will help get rid of multiple irregularities or concerns. At your consultation appointment, Dr. Hardesty will narrow down what needs to be treated based on your concerns. The treatment options are:
Due to the unique Dynamic Cooling Device “DCD” Cryogen cooling and laser rays, Dr. Hardesty and his staff will have the patient wear protective eye goggles or eye shields if treating above the collar bone. He will pulse the laser on the patients’ skin destroying the underlying hair follicles. Patients will feel a cool burst followed by a warm sensation. Treatments can take anywhere from a few minutes to about an hour, depending on the amount of hair and the size of the area being treated. The average treatment time is about 25 minutes. Treatment time will vary based on area and hair density. Dr. Hardesty and his staff will go over the treatment plan and time with you during the consultation.
Dr. Hardesty will give you detailed instructions for pre-treatment and post-treatment care. Patients will see some para-follicular edema and feel perhaps like they were in the sun, this is why a cool compress or gel pack may be applied. Any redness or swelling should resolve in a few hours. Patients should apply sunblock (SPF 30 or above) and the first few days after avoid scrubbing or rinsing with abrasive skin cleansers.
A good candidate for the GentleLase Pro Laser hair procedure must have melanin (dark pigment) in the hair for the laser to effectively treat the hair follicle since the GentleLase Pro laser targets pigments. Thus, sun tanned skin, darker skin toned individuals, or lighter colored hair are not good candidates. In contrast a good candidate is someone with light to medium skin tone with dark hair.
Although the hair follicle has been destroyed by the laser there are still stem cells which can regenerate the hair follicle thus allowing hair growth to occur (typically 2-5 years down the road) however this re-growth is typically limited and is spot treated for desired results.
It is best to avoid sun or tanning exposure at least two weeks before treatment. Do not bleach, pluck or wax 4 to 6 weeks before and after treatment. Wait for tanned skin to fade before beginning treatment. Dr. Hardesty will provide you with instructions to follow before the treatment.
