- T-Anchor shape around the areola, down and across the breast crease
The Breast Reconstruction Technique
The technique used in the procedure also depends upon the extent of the procedure. There are many types of techniques that may be used for breast reconstruction. Some of the techniques that may be used include:
- Reposition existing breast tissue to form an enhanced shape
- Dissection of the breast pocket to fit a breast implant
- Flap creation involving the transfer of fat from one area of the body to the breast
- Liposuction to remove fat or muscle from one area of the body and transfer fat to the breast
- Layered suturing may be used to hold the repositioned tissue in place
Breast Reconstruction Recovery
Breast reconstruction does require a recovery time period. The length of time required for recovery depends upon a variety of factors such as the extent of the procedure and the techniques used in the procedure. Patients may return to normal daily activities anytime from two days to a week following surgery. Usually, by 6 weeks, there are no restrictions to returning to full exercise.
Breast reconstruction is a rejuvenating procedure for women in need. Patients have great satisfaction with the renewed appearance of their breasts. Breast reconstruction can build self confidence, enhance life’s experiences and creates a more normal breast appearance.
