Eyelid Surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, is designed to rejuvenate the eyes. Some people wish to improve only the upper or lower lids. Others prefer to improve both the upper and lower eyelids. The improvements found through eyelid surgery include the reduction of:

The Incision

Eyelid surgery incisions are made within the natural lines of the eyes. In this way, the incisions after healing are usually unnoticeable to the naked eye.

The Eyelid Surgery Technique

Eyelid surgery focuses on removing excess skin and repositioning and/or removing fat deposits. Eyelid surgery may also treat muscles and tissue on the eyelids that cause an aged appearance. In some cases when it appears that the upper eyelids, forehead and between the brows require treatment, a forehead lift alone may produce a satisfactory outcome. In other cases, eyelid surgery may be performed in conjunction with other procedures such as forehead lift, face lift, or injectibles.

Recovery Period

Dr. Hardesty and Dr. Bennett will provide you with a list of post-operative instructions to follow in order to provide for a smooth recovery. The results are nearly immediate as soon as swelling subsides. This time period is usually several days at which time you can return to normal daily activities. The advantages of eyelid surgery are that people do not notice that a procedure was performed, but the eyes appear refreshed, more attractive and appealing. Eyelid surgery offers a more youthful appearance that may last for ten to twenty years.
